Since  staging is not on top of the list  of my decorating services, I have a question to you....experts : How effective ( if at all) is,what I call , "vignette staging " in very large homes, where one only wants to give suggestion of lifestyle. This has been my only experience , so far. It was done in spirit of cooperation between realtor and decorator and not for profit.

I think you have captured your staging need in the presented photo above.  Just be careful to not go too light in large homes.  Much success to you.

I don't know if I would call this vignette staging.  I would call it lite staging.  I gues eveyone has their own idea of what it is, depending on what others do.  Vignettes are typically accessories only...around here anyway.  None the less, in a large home it's almost impossible not to use some furniture.

I agree with Cindy, this isn't really vignette staging.  We don't typically do vignette staging because it looks very "staged" and doesn't add the warm inviting look that full or even light staging can.  Adding just art and some accessories and a few plants is what we call vignette staging, and it's usually done by an untrained Realtor who hasn't yet found a great professional stager to work with.

I love this vignette.  Imagine how cold and stark this area would look without it.  I think it's a good idea to add just a little glimpse of how the whole house could look.  The black and white is very sharp.

Well, you did do a pretty good job. I wouldn't call this vignette staging either. If this is your vignette... then what would be the real staging?  Are you an ID? Make sure that you are positioning yourself for the services that you are offering. Vignette staging is the scope of what Cindy suggests. As always, there are many of us here t help out. Let us know if you need any help :)

I can see where this could be seen as a vignette, especially if this is the only area in the home you "staged". I would rather see one room staged like this to give a sense of purpose or lifestyle than many accessories scattered throughout the home as Cindy mentioned.Nice job!

Cindy,   I call it vignette, because it is only a corner of v. large room opened to other areas.

Lori, according to Florida law ,one needs the licence (and not necesserely a diploma) to call oneself a designer. My website may better answer your question.

Tessa,       I do feel more true to myself by doing one"corner"  without addressing the rest of the house. I belive it gives more impact.

I agree with the others in that this is not really vignette staging - the furniture setting turns this into what we call light staging.  I for one, would rather have the 'basic package' - one living area/kitchen/breakfast or dining and master bd/bth staged, rather than accessories all over.  I feel this package addresses the 'zones of influence' and when done well, give enough feelling and warmth to produce the WOW factor and other rooms don't need to be staged.  Sometimes, especially in larger homes, vignette staging does not show how furniture fits and looks good in a room.  Many buyers cannot envision rooms full of furniture and wonder if their things will fit.  That's why I prefer to fully stage a few rooms, and then do vignettes in rooms like the laundry, powder, foyer ~

But this arrangement still looks very pretty and inviting.  You did great!

Mel,  I am so glad to have received all these valuable opinions. Seams, everyone has their prefferance and approche. At the end, though every project needs to be treated individualy.
