Compulsive, over-worker much?

  I was challenged the other day in my local church when the Pastor preached that after God created the heavens and the earth, on the seventh day He rested.  Now I'm not trying to start a theological discussion on if it actually was the seventh day, or six of our days or anything but rather focus on the fact that God rested.  Now being God, He doesn't get tired, He doesn't need to kick up his feet and watch the Oilers dominate the Canucks on a Saturday night.  So why did He rest?  Maybe it was to provide us with an example that no one, seriously, no one can continue to work without getting tired.  Whether we need a mental break or a physical one we all need a break.

  Now this really hit me.  The problem for me is I love to work.  I know it may sound weird to some, and maybe not that weird to others, but I truly love my job and love to work.  I find days off a little boring and my mind tends to wonder back to work related things.  The funny thing is, I was watching Survivor with my wife last night, (which was a very rare occurrence because I don't watch the show) and the one guy named Russell had to leave the game because of exhaustion.  To look at the guy he was in great physical shape so what happened?  He pushed himself too far.  He worked constantly and didn't allow time for his body to rest.  During the challenge he passed out twice and at one point he actually sort of looked like he died because his eyes were open but he was there.  Wow...a perfect example that we all need to rest.

  So with all this new found wisdom I still haven't figured out how to completely take a day off work.  To take my phone off my belt and leave it on my desk.  But I'm "working" on it :)
