Monte Sano State Park, Huntsville/Madison Alabama

This is a Southeastern view from atop Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville Alabama, some 1600 feet above sea level. 

Monte Sano State Park offers more than outstanding views of the Tennessee Valley.  The park has 14 miles of bike and hiking trails.  There are also 14 Arts and Crafts style cabins available for rent at reasonable rates.  Camp sites that are full hook up; water and electric; and primitive for those who really like to camp.

Playgrounds keep the kids occupied and meeting rooms are available for special business events.  And of course there are many near by attractions such as the Space and Rocket Museum, Burritt on the Mountain,  The Botanical Gardens, just to name a few that are a short drive from Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville Alabama.

There are of course many outstanding and affordable homes for sale near Monte Sano State Park making this a very desirable area to raise a family.

Nick,  Beautiful photo.  Monte Sano is amazing, isn't it?  I'll skip the camping, but wouldn't mind hiking a few of the trails.  I've heard they are gorgeous in the fall.

Hello Diane-no, don't feel that way, if it was private it certainly wouldn't be seen in a post!  Beth and I are friends and we work in the same office and she actually gave me a few tips on the post.

Nice to hear from you again.  What area does your sister live in?

Diane, I guess that's about an hour forty five from me.  Alabama is quite a change for me, I do enjoy the people I've met and the weather certainly is milder than Chicago.  I have a long time friend who's a property manager in Chicago...that's got to be tough in the winter.  Anyway, duty calls...talk to you soon.

I can say the same about being so close to Birmingham...in the last three years I've only made it there once.

Nick-that sounds like a nice park.  They don't really have places like that near me.  When I was in Maine two years ago I visited a beautiful park that sounds just like this one.

Debra-it's very nice most anytime of the year, but the fall is my favorite.  Of course, fall is my favorite season anyway...anywhere!  I have never been to Maine, but I've seen the pictures of it in the fall and it's absolutely gorgeous.

You are not that far from where a cousin of mine used to live in Ridgewood NJ.  I would visit when I was youger and we would take trips into NY.

I've talked to people who have lived in West VA or visited and they do talk about how beautiful it is.
