Is it Stuffing or is it Dressing? / Susan Brown, Your Texas Connection, Keller Williams Realty

Thanksgiving.  The time of year where the age-old question is raised.

Is it Stuffing or is it Dressing?

To me, it's simple.  It's stuffing inside the turkey, dressing outside the bird.  But since I had a burning Let's Get Stuffeddesire to know what others thought, I took this question to the streets of Atascocita.  And I found out it was pretty evenly split.  The other thing I found out is that everyone wants to tell you what kind of stuffing/dressing they make! Cornbread, oyster, cranberry-nut, sausage, wild rice and mushroom - and these are just a few on the list.  Anyway, I digress.  Back to "stuffing or dressing."

Now, as I pondered a bit more.  How does this question apply to real estate?

Isn't the "stuffing or dressing" kind of like a how a seller perceives the sale of their home?  A good majority of sellers look at their home as dressing.  They want potential buyers to see just how beautiful their home is dressed.  How they've decorated and designed?  Whereas they should be putting themselves in the buyers' shoes.  The buyers are paying closer attention to the substantial features of the home.  The systems inside the walls.  The stuffing!

TurkeyI just may have to use this analogy  when I talk turkey to my next listing.

Hi Susan~ That answer is easy, of course it is stuffing! Since I grew up in the Northeast, we never called it anything else!

You're absolutely right, stuffing is inside, dressing is outside.

I'd argue that the 'stuffing' of the house is the most important but the 'dressing' can make a difference as well.

Roy - Thanks!  You have a great w/e too.

Vickie - Stuffing yes - what kind?

Julia - Dressing can definitely make a difference - so maybe a better balance of the two would be the answer?

Debbie - I am more of a traditional bread dressing myself. But here in Texas - it's cornbread all the way.

Richard - I'm happy for being featured in Whacked!  :)

Susan,

Put me in the stuffing-inside, and dressing outside. I prefer cornbread- I can't remember any other type.

Oh yes, for me it's dressing... and if I get Stovetop how would that compare to staging? lol

Fantastic analogy Susan! I'm a dressing girl when it comes to turkeys and a stuffing girl when it comes to homes!
