My owner is a Realtor with Century 21 Award in San Diego.Balboa Park is the largest urban cultural park in America and the second largest in North America behind Stanley Park in Vancouver, British Columbia.

If you're going to spend some extra time sightseeing in San Diego, you can't go wrong with Balboa Park. The Park offers a Passport for $39/$21 (adults/children) that gets you into fourteen of the Park's Museums, a savings of over 50%:

Jim, another great post, full of very good info. I was in San Diego many years ago for a summer and spent some wonderful times at Balboa Park. What a great place it is, you are very lucky to have such a place near you.

Jim,

Wow, looks like there's a lot to do in San Diego! I live in a fairly small town, so all that stuff looks really fun and interesting. Great Localism post, thanks for sharing!

Hey, Andrea - It is very relaxing to just take a walk through any part of Balboa Park. Along with the Zoo, there are the museums, lots of volleyball playing, flowers blooming. Sometimes it's just fun to go sit and watch the people walk by with their dogs, children, and, sometimes, birds perched on their shoulders or snakes wrapped around their necks. I try to go once a week just to see what's going on.

Hey, Carra - The weather helps out a lot, but I think the weather is also the reason why we don't support professional sports teams very well. Who wants to sit in a stadium for three hours watching a bunch of overpaid sports crybabies hit each other, throw footballs, bounce basketballs, or hit baseballs when there is so much else to do that is actually FREE? Or at least much, much less expensive.

Hey, Jim - Since I joined ActiveRain last year, I've been out exploring San Diego again, something I hadn't done in many years.
