What's 418 feet long and moves at 52 mph across the water?

Every once in a while I run across a feat in modern technology that amazes me.  I had to share this one.  It seems the U.S. Navy has a new toy and if you're a pirate trying hijack a ship, you might want to think twice.

One of two new designs vying to be selected for production.

Corinne,

Nessy just might, if anyone could catch a glimpse long enough.

I love it, almost makes me hope the pirates try something so we can go get them with this guy!

Pretty impresive.  It just boggles my mind that they're coming in a $200 million a piece, and they've capped the budget at $460 Mil a piece.  Somehow I think the defense contractor will find a way to raise the price another $260 Million!  WE are in the wrong business.

Very cool. I'm glad they're doing something like this. But, 50 mph on water, really isn't that fast. I guess they think that's all they need to catch the bad guys.

Brian - I remember reading about this too and thinking how cool, now we have something to fight piracy with.

It looks like it even has two tennis courts on it. How cool! Wonder how much a toy like that costs.
