I have been asked this question several times over now. How are you still in this business when the market has bottomed out? It is not an easy question. I've put together some things I've noticed in successful real estate and title agents and hope folks will add to the list:
Make yourself available to your clients, or prospective clients
Go with the flow, literally, if you have many cases, work many hours, if you don't have much, and are caught up on things, rest up. Burn out never helps anyone.
Learn as much as you can about your market area and find areas where service lacks, insert where needed.
Talk to everyone you know about real estate and what you are capable of. Never know where a referral may come from.
Answer your phone, and when that is not possible, call people back --within the hour when possible, ASAP when it's not possible.
Answer your emails the same way.
Learn the phrase "There is no such thing as a dumb question." Just because you know the answer, that knowledge was gained somewhere, maybe you asked it in the past.
Be willing to go the extra mile for people. They appreciate your looking over a HUD twice, calling before they see it if there is anything unusual, calling after the fact to verify checks were received.
Touch points people in marketing call them. I call them good common sense.
