I recently revamped my website, www.craigsrealtylist.com, and the company I'm using to host my website has really opened my eyes to some cool tricks of the website trade. One of those is registering your site with Goggle Analytics, which I did about a month ago.
Yesterday, I logged into Google Analytics for the first time and I was blown away at what information is right there at your fingertips. In addition to such things as the number of total hits your site has received on a day-by-day basis, it provides a detailed analysis of the visitors. You can find out how many pages people are viewing, how long they're staying on a particular page, if they came from a particular search engine or just entered your url.
Two elements I really found useful. The first was a geographic breakdown of the unique visitors, which provided a state map of the USA. You could then click on a particular state and it had dots and a label within the state outline indicating what city or town the visitor heralds. The second tool that caught my eye was the list of key word searches people used to get to your site and the number of times the search word was used in a particular time period.
It's amazing data and I'm sure it's old hat for the more tech-savvy agents. The trick now is how to use the information to better position your site...stay tuned!
