Wood Artists' Gallery & Specialty Woods in Salter Path, North Carolina is a unique shop located on the Bogue Banks Island of the Crystal Coast.
In 2007, Owners/Artists Paula LaBelle and Sharon Barrett, moved their shop from Chapel Hill to Salter Path, North Carolina, and we are so happy they did. They have become active in the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce, and 
have acquired a wonderful reputation in the community. Not to mention, they have provided us with this unique and amazing addition to our area.
Their motto is "Nature makes it beautiful, We enhance it", and that is so true. When I first walked into their shop, I was overwhelmed by the beauty covering the walls and shelves, all created by Paula and Sharon in the studio at Wood Artists' Gallery & Specialty Woods. Paula and Sharon also know a little 
bit about customer service, as they both had smiles on their faces and gave me a very friendly welcome as I entered the front door. Service with a smile...something you don't see everyday, but I bet you will at Wood Artists' gallery!
At the Wood Artists' Gallery in Salter Path, North Carolina, you will find an amazing collection of handcrafted items. If you are looking for a gift for someone, or looking to treat yourself, you will find that special something at Paula and Sharon's shop.
At the Wood Artists' Gallery, you will find two lines. One being "The Wooden Kitchen", filled with plates, bowls, cutting boards and other handcrafted kitchen items. On the other side of the shop at Wood Artists' Gallery, you'll find "Nice Figures" which are more decorative items...from tables, vases and platters, bottle toppers and so much more. The items are designed and created by Paula and Sharon, from such woods as Birdseye Maple, Australian Burl, Purpleheart and Zebrawood. They also carry a line of specialty woods for purchase so you can create your own masterpiece is you choose.
While visiting their shop, Paula was telling me a little about what they do and how they do it. She mentioned that they like to use burls...Huh? I think she could tell by the expression on my face that I had no clue what a burl was, so she explained to me that burls are the big lumps that you see on trees with knots and bumps and filled with imperfections. A lot of people use only the perfect wood with the perfect grain, but by using the burls you get a really unique and exquisite piece of art.
Paula and Sharon are truly talented artists. If you are ever in the area, you will definitely want to stop by their place and say hello. Take a look around and pick out something very special to take home. You'll be glad you did!
