Helen GA Real Estate " Is it already Christmas"?

Real Estate Agent with No. Georgia Mountain Realty

Here in Helen Ga, as in all other parts of the country stores are shouting out Christmas, Christmas, Christmas.  One large retailer is holding a "Black Friday Sale" tomorrow.  Instead of waiting till the day after Thanksgiving, it is tomorrow.  Are you a little tired of commercialized Christmas?  Are you a little more worried about your pocketbook this year?  You might do what I am going to do this year.

1.  Buy only for the children with a limit on the amount if you wish.

2.  Tell everyone early that you are going to give of yourself this year, and ask them to do the same for you and yours.  DO THIS EARLY, AT LEAST BY THANKSGIVING SO THEY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO.

3.  Plan what you will give, will it be home made, will it be gifts of time, will it be gifts of services?  Write it down on a coupon, wrap it and give at Christmas

4.  ASK your family and friends to join you, ask for ideas that will make the holidays better without spending money and still bring you close together.

now for my readers, can you contribute to my list by adding more ideas?  Please let me know what you plan to do to save your pocketbook and make this a way to bring your family closer to you!  I cannot wait to hear.

Flynn, I don't like it that Christmas (or giftmas to some) keeps creeping up into October.  The reason for the season isn't the gifts.  Our family really enjoys spending time together, especially with grown kids who have their own busy lives in opposite parts of the country.

It is pretty annoying.  At least they use to wait til the day after Halloween.  I saw Christmas displays in some stores two weeks ago.

Susan, if you are going to spend time together that is the best of all gifts. It would be great if you could write a check out for what you all would have collectively spent on gifts and burn it in the fireplace!  (seems like the credit card companies got all the help and bail outs, and now if we could just hold off using them this Christmas, it would be a personal pay back to them wouldn't it?)

Jeff, our WalMart started putting Christmas out at least two weeks ago too, I hope this year people will look at their wallets and decide to keep their money and give of their time, except to the little ones of course, they don't understand.  Any suggestions of what the little ones can be taught now for their benefit in the future?
