Has the $8,000 tax credit been extended?

By

I got this article from a friend yesterday regarding the extention of the first time homebuyer tax credit:

http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/local/story/First-time-homebuyer-tax-credit-extended/kZsPJSyIAUuuHAb9-hUdwg.cspx?rss=794

Several agents have told me as a fact that it has been extended.

Now somebody else tells me it will be voted on next Monday.

What is the truth on this? What is the best resource to clarify?

Niki, it's all been worked out but not yet voted through.  It should be passed without any problem as there is a lot of support for this extension (AND EXPANSION).  Last sentence in the article says it will be voted on in the coming weeks!

Niki-

It would be nice to hear such news when it's actually a fact.  I am a Realtor in CA, and an article stating the tax credit was extended was posted on the California Assiciation of Realtors' website yesterday. Today it's gone. Conclusion: if it's on the news, it is not always true and our facts has to be triple checked.
