Gaithersburg Police Launch Second Phase of 2009 Click It or Ticket Campaign
Posted 10/30/2009
The Gaithersburg Police Department will be launching the second phase of the Click It or Ticket seat belt campaign in Gaithersburg starting November 16 and continuing through November 29, 2009. During this phase, the Police Department will focus on evening enforcement through both patrol and checkpoint efforts. Statistics show that most fatal crashes occur during evening hours.
The Gaithersburg Police Department will be continuing its partnership with other law enforcement agencies throughout the region in the aggressive enforcement of Maryland's seat belt laws as part of the national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign.
Maryland law requires that the driver, front passenger, and any other passenger under the age of 16 in a vehicle must wear a seatbelt. Any child up to age eight must ride in an appropriate child restraint, according to manufacturer's instructions, unless the child is over 4'9" or 65 pounds.
