Utah is also famous for the Sundance Film Festival: Sundance began in 1978 and became part of the Sundance Institution in 1985.  Held every January for 10 days.  Sundance usually attracts close to 50,000 film industry "people" from all over the world.

Utah first gained its recognition in 1939 when John Wayne filmed in the Moab and Monument Valley areas.  His films *Stagecoach, Fort Aparch, Rio Grande and The Searchers helped Hollywood realize what great scenery Utah has to offer.  we all know LOCATION IS KEY

*Looks like I have some places to visit too.  I've never been to Monument Valley, Goblin Valley or Snow Canyon to name a few.  I thought this list was fun, I hope you did too.

Best wishes and happy Sunday

Kim, this was really interesting. I visited Salt Lake City once and I can see why the movie studios choose Utah. Thanks.

Kim, great post.  In the 20 + years   lived in Utah I have visited most of these sights, I'd be happy to show you around.  'Touch by an Angel'  was filmed here as well and many oher made for tv movies and series, I use to see the sets around town and not far from my house. Many years a go I did a bit part in 'Crime Solvers'.  Movie makers Like Utah because it is cheaper to film here, great back drops, great neighborhoods and a great pool of talent.   Utah is known for it's great talent.  Have a great Sunday!
