When you decide to have your home staged to sell, it does not mean there is anything wrong with your home. It can be beautiful, charming, cozy and decorated to the hilt, but it isn't staged. It's personal, it's your home. You are not selling your decorating you are selling possibilities. If the potential home purchaser is falling in love with your decorating or NOT, are they really seeing your property? Remember only 1 in 10 people can see past the decorating and fewer than that can see past clutter, over stuffed storage and furniture that is not to scale or placed as to not show all the possibilities of a room. You hear a lot about neutralizing your property. Neutral doesn't necessarily mean blah, it means transcending taste and allowing the discriminating eye of the viewer to see the square footage, character, amenities and most of all the possibilities of the home they are viewing.
Paint freshens a room and if the proper color is chosen will warm a room and make it look larger. A common misconception is that white walls make a room look larger. White walls are stark, cold and have no depth, therefore the room not only looks smaller, it looks cold and in some cases makes the room appear boxy.
