Speechfull Sunday:When You Thought I Wasn't Looking

Word and actions mean something

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given..

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good, and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and wanted to say,'Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'

A good friend sent this to me the other day and it touched my heart.  I hope it touches your's as well!

Hi June - so nice to see you out and about!  I send prayers every day your way and for your daughter.....I hold her and the baby happy and healthy.  You are so sweet - this one sure did touch my heart. Just thinking of all the millions of actions we do over the years and how they effect kids - and adults.  Made me stop and think.  No - not a pic of me but is sure does look like any kid in my family.  Maybe that's why I liked it so much!

Love the positive message. Too bad our local newspapers have no interest in publishing positive messages like this.

The picture is priceless, and the words shared are words of wisdom to learn from, and though you received it from someone else, it was so thoughtful of you to share it here for us!  Thank you!

Hi Again June - I understand about the curls. My baby brother Peter had curls and one day when Mom was out my older sister said - he looks like a girl - let's cut his curls off.  My Mom wasn't a happy camper about that choice. But my sister did save some curly locks for her!  Let's chat tomorrow and catch up :)

Jim - you know lately the AZ Republic has been 'finally' publishing some more positive stories. And don't you wish they'd do more of it.  I sure do.

Hi Paul - well this is great - another AZ guy!  Welcome to the rain - I look forward to reading your posts and meeting you out and about town!  Let me know how your kids like the special attention from Dad. I bet they'll eat it up!

Diane - it's just one of those priceless emails that needed to be passed on.  On of  my favorites in a very long time.

I saw this over at Jim's reblog. He's not allowing comments over there in preference to people coming over here to your blog.

When I was growing up, my wise old grandmother subscribed to a tabloid magazine called GRIT. It was about 60 pages each week of nothing but positive news and things to do. In this world, of course, I suppose being positive all the time is a negative, but the only thing negative about GRIT was that it only came once a week.

Hi Russel - tell Jim thanks for passing this on - we need so much more of this - every day. That sounds like an amazing tabloid GRIT.  Is it still around - if not when did it end?  How interesting that there actually was something like this.  What a great grandma you had - a very wise women. I feel so grateful as well as my Mom was one of those wise women as well.  Thank goodness we turned out as good as we did and make them proud!

Great post Anna.  A reminder of how much children learn from the unspoken from their surrounding adult role models.  Positive role models are so important for impressionable minds and hearts.  Cute little guy! (Written by Gloria)
