Recently my husband, Gareth, and I took a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. From our second floor balcony we were enjoying the babbling stream below.
As I watched the flow of the water, actually the rush of the water. It seemed to be just like our lives. Around rocks, over rocks, large and small. Small pebbles even created a change in the flow of the water.
Some larger more pronounced rocks may have stopped the water altogether except for the sheer force of the flow as it traveled along.
It was life!
Fast and slow, around and over and even under the rocks and all the while there was a destination.
My observation was not that these rocks were not a negative but simply life as it is given to us and how we handle it.
Gosh some of the rocks may have been great milestones that we accomplished along the way but they also changed the course of our lives as well as some we could have done without.
As I watched I mentally named a few of the rocks and pebbles in my life. Smiled at some and should have cried at a few. (I did in real life.)
God is there to take us through all of these diversions and we get to decide how to get to the final destination. Enjoy the trip of life.
It sure seemed to me that the water was!
