Where are the ActiveRain point dogs?

Here, doggie, doggie, doggie.

Want more points?

An ActiveRain pointer

Want more ActiveRain points? Here is a simple method that I've been using since I joined ActiveRain:

First, if someone comments on your blog post, you get four points for that comment, but only after the third comment shows up. If you get zero, one, or two comments, you won't get any comment points. But once that third comment shows up, you'll get twelve comment points, four points for each of three comments.

Second, you can make more than ten comments a day. My personal best is 33 comments in one day, but I always do at least eleven. Only the first ten comments each day get you 25 points per comment, but like everything in life, why do just the minimum? Surely you're not a minimalist, are you?

Third, most everyone here will comment on your blog if you comment on theirs. So if you have a day off from showing properties, doing home inspections, or whatever, try visiting and commenting on the blogs of 20, 30, 40, or more different people. Even go further and make some new friends by making half of your comments in the blog of people you don't know yet, perhaps newbies.

Great stuff.  I do more than the minimum and yes....I comment on the blogs of those who comment on mine.  Good tips.

Russel, Great tips and I have gradually reached the point where I am doing all three things.  I usually comment on more than 10 although I still need to comment on more and I always have at least 5 different people that I have never read or commented on before.

Russel, I really enjoy your blogs. I am starting with few comments a day for now, but I will take your advise and comment much much more.

Hi Russel - Besides the points, the comments keep the conversation moving and the community growing. Without that, we'd almost be writing in a vacuum.

Hi Russell, I've wondered how the comments on my posts worked, and now you've told me.  By the way, here are 4 more points!

Hi, Russel. Glad you've got a "pointing dog" to illustrate this post!

Hey, Larry - You and I got back a while with reciprocal commenting.

Hey, Gary - I do my 10 daily comments on people who have commented on my blog since they are easier to find. Then I try to do another 10 comments on people I don't know.

Hey, Steve - It actually becomes quite a lot of fun once one develops one's own system.

Hey, Haris - Don't get addicted to ActiveRain, though, or you'll be in the same boat with the rest of us. LOL

Hey, Rick - Actually, if you keep track like I do, you'll find that just about everyone, probably more than 95%, return comment for comment. For those who have a lot of followers and commenters, it just takes a while to get back. It takes me about three weeks right now, but I suspect when the holidays roll around with some good late season football games, I'll be able to do thirty or forty comments a day. I'm going to try to break my record of 133 comments in one day. That should help me catch up!

Hey, Bob and Carolin - Did you notice that Zoey the Cool Cat is asleep and the pointer is pointing the opposite direction. That wasn't an accident! LOL

Hey, John - I think one of the things I most enjoy about ActiveRain is the comments, but even more so is that except in the rarest of circumstances, even the comments of those with whom I disagree are Polite, Personable, Positive, Pleasant, and Professional. I can't say that about the site where I played from March 2003 to July 2008 before coming here permanently.

Hey, Dan - Thanks for letting me borrow four points. I'll be over to visit you soon and return them.

Hey, Leslie - You would have enjoyed where I was yesterday out in horse country. Got some great pictures of horses, including a miniature horse, out in the boondocks.

Russel,

Thanks for the breakdown! I was never quite sure exactly how the points are awarded. I love getting out there and reading all the wonderful posts!

There truly are some point dogs out there. I've even seen people switch towns deliberately so that they could be a featured agent for a town where everyone else had less points than that individual.
