Saturday October 31st started off blustery and cold but thanks to an initiative of the local BIA (Business Improvement Association), the children of New Tecumseth got a head start on their festivities.
The local businesses of the three main villages of New Tecumseth sponsored a local afternoon of fun and frivolities.
Children were encouraged to dress up in the Halloween costumes and visit "Fun Stations" located in 60 local merchants premises in Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham. Various activities and handouts were provided and children that submitted a stamped passport to their local villages Host Station by 4 pm were eligible for prizes.
My wife took my son (5 years old) dressed as a skeleton into downtown Alliston where he had his face painted to match his costume, made a halloween windsock, and received a variety of treats (and even a few tricks ;-)
A fun day was had by my son (less so by his mother ;-) while I managed to do some work.
No rest for the wicked as my mother-in-law accompanied my wife chaperoning my son in the village of Alliston that evening. He met a school friend and enjoyed the evening until he could not take another step.
Needless to say all was quiet as the Smith household slept well Halloween night. The extra hour of sleep was an appreciated bonus.
It is monday morning and all evidence of Halloween (except his large bag of treats) is gone. The little one is now counting the days to Christmas, and so it begins...again.
