Living in Las Vegas

I've had more than one client moving here from out of state ask me, What is there to do in Las Vegas?

For starters, we have some of the best entertainment on the planet located in the heart of the world famous Las Vegas Srip.  We currently have six Cirque du Soleilproductions, with a seventh soming very soon.  There are also numerous concerts and smaller productions going on in a variety of venues like the House of Blues, The Joint, the new Hard Rock Cafe, just to name a few.  You could go to a shark exhibit, Titanic exhibit, human body exhibit, see the shooting fountains, watch a volcano or pirate show, or if you want to stay inside check out the garden inside the Bellagio or Madame Tussauds at Venetian, the mountain at the Wynn hotel, or the gladiator show inside the Forum shops at Caesar's Palace.

I haven't even mentioned the headliners who perform here on a regular basis, Bette Midler, Penn & Teller, Rita Rudner, George Wallace, Donnie & Marie, Jerry Seinfeld, Ray Romano and some guy named Garth Brooks just got signed to do some shows at the Wynn Hotel and Casino.

Don't want to go to the strip you say, fine.  How about something for the active type?

How about hiking in Red Rock canyon, you wouldn't even know you are just a few miles outside of Las Vegas.  Little further away there is the Valley of Fire, has some ancient Indian petroglyph's to check out around the park.  Like to golf?  We have numerous golf courses around town for all skill levels.  If you like to bowl, many of the "locals" casinos offer bowling, most open 24 hours.  Not to mention the numerous sports leagues around town that you can join.

For someone who likes to watch spectator sports, we have the Las Vegas Motor Speedway which has events all year round.  We also host an annual PGA tournament, although sponsorship has been a problem since I've lived here, it still goes on every October.  We also have some minor league teams, the Las Vegas 51's and the Las Vegas Wranglers.  We even have our own professional football team, the Locomotives, at least as long as the new UFL lasts anyway.  Our local college, UNLV, also has usually has a very good basketball team by the way.

Don't like sports, that's OK too.  Would rather go shopping?  We have shopping plazas all over the valley.  Plus of course, some of the best shopping in the world is located in the strip hotels, Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace being the largest.   We have not one but two major outlet malls and just south of the Las Vegas strip is Town Square.

What's that, you need to work while you live here?  We have numerous industrial and office parks around the valley too.  Almost 2 million people live here, we DO NOT all work in the casinos.  Not by a long shot.  Is it our major employment sector, you bet it is, but it is not our end all be all by any means.

Well that's it for now, sure I have missed numerous things, but I've had enough fun for this space.
