I spent the day at a business planning session in Midlothian Va. I think my head is swimming with all the stats and numbers. I really need to get a handle on where business is going and where Im spending my money. Its been a great day and well worth the over night in Midlothian. Im feeling a bit overwhelmed about all that I need to do before the 1st of the year. Im looking at where business came in from and where Im spend money. Do you make a plan ? Everything you want to do in life needs a plan. What do you want to do in life and where do you want to go ? Its amazing how we go about life with out any directions. I think planning everything you can will help keep control your stress. I take time to plan meals , budgets, just about anything to alleviate the feel of loosing control. What plans are you willing to make to reduce stress in your life and business.
We start crunching numbers after Nov. 15th and then the week before Christmas we all go and lock ourselves up in a hotel or beach house till we get it together. We always look to increase business every year by 10% and have hit that number every year 13 out of 15. Then we work it backwards right down to the how many phone calls the telemarketers have to do each day.
I need to improve at tracking from whence the business comes. I took a stab at retracing things last week, and it helped, but I'm not sure how accurate it was. Any pointers on getting more formal about my plan for 2010?
Ray,
I would start NOW TRACK TRACK some times we cannot back track. Don't worry to much just start fresh now. I need to track call attempts, completed contact. My conversions is what Im looking for. How many calls do I need to make to make my goals for the year. THIS is important numbers
Great time for me to read your post...I worked on my plan all day. It seems I have to dig deep to come up with a better plan, and when I have it, the stress levels go way down. I'm at my worst when I don't have a plan, even though I generally stray off the plan as things get busy!

When I coach agents and we are doing "business planning" I'm more focused on their "personal plan". What will they do with the money once they make it? Kids Collenge? Vacations? Investments?
I always put the personal plan first because I firmly believe if you know WHY you want to do something the HOW and WHAT won't stop you.
