Post Open House Protocol

By
Real Estate Agent with Foxhall Investments

After every successful open house we are usually left with a nice long list with the contact info for most of the people who came to the open house.

In order to maximize what you get out of your open house you have to do your best to convert these new contacts into leads.

What do you all feel is the best way to use the contact information you take away from an open house?  Does everyone get a call?

We send a follow up card and then call to be sure they received it and while they are in the open house ask if they would like to recieve other listings in this area or price range.

To get everyone to sign in, i tell them that the seller requires sign-in for insurance purposes (which is true). and if they do leave real information, we send a personal note (handwritten).

Consider using a sign-in card instead of a sign-in sheet. As specific contact questions including op-in permission.

  1. Send a thank you post card,
  2. Follow-up with a phone call or email,
  3. Add to your "Just Listed" email listing for homes meeting similar specifications,
  4. Add to your quarterly newsletter
  5. Add to your listing alert program if the buyer opted

Carolyn,  I like the sign in card idea!  Do you have a bunch of 3 x 5 cards printed up?  Could you share what you print on them?

I'd guess: name, address, phones, email, "would you like to receive notice of new properties, check here"

Call them all, find a reason, honest feedback for the seller, monthly newsletter, a great opportunity to ask for referrals.  If they are willing to give contact info add them to your sphere.
