New Bern Colonial Capitol Tour

Marvin, a fellow agent, and I both live and work primarily in the Oriental NC area, but frequently assist clients in other areas also.  Since our company office is located in New Bern, we have an interest in keeping informed about the history surrounding that area.  Tours are not all the same and we learn about different things with each tour taken.  Most of these tours are walking or riding in a bus or trolley.  Recently, we took the New Bern Colonial Capitol tour, which uses the Segway People Movers for transportation.

The Segway is one of the neatest machines I have ever seen.  After a brief instruction session, we were outfitted with helmets and a receiver to better hear about the various buildings and sites, then we were on our way.  Never having been aboard a Segway before was no problem, they are very easy to use.  You must be careful not to rub up against a curb or another rider's wheel, and be attentive when riding on a slanted surface.

I won't go into the history that we learned, but can tell you that we learned quite a lot and had a great time.  If you happen to find yourself in New Bern with a couple free hours on your hands, this tour is highly recommended.  Contact Neal Davis at: http://www.tarheeladventures.com/.  Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Joe it looks like the Segway would be more fun than the tour.  Thanks, now I have got to figure out where I can rent one.

Bill - The Segway was way more fun than riding on a bus tour and hearing the speech over loudspeakers.  The tour was excellent and the Segway made it doubly enjoyable.

Since being on one, I can think of many excuses reasons why I should get one.  I wonder if I'm too old to send a letter to Santa.

haha, wow! I feel like those things are small space crafts. They look sooo fun! This has motivated me to take a tour in my local city. I'll blog about it when I do! :)

Denise - We did have a great time and riding on the Segway ought to be on everyone's "bucket" list.  This old guy had a lot of fun on the tour.

Taylor - Now that you mention it, they are a bit like a small space craft, except for the flying part.  And you are right about them being sooo fun.  Take a Segway tour whenever you can, you'll be glad you did.  Please remind me when you blog about it.

Kathy - In the right locale, when you are in or on a unique form of transportation people want to stop you and talk.  Suppose you had a Segway and just rode around your neighborhood on Sunday afternoons to meet those who were picking up flyers at homes for sale.  It's a little bit out of the "box", but works well as another form of lead generation.

Joe - out of the box for sure ... but you are right if you can getting people to stop and talk is always a good thing

I heard those Segways are a lot of fun - maybe I'll get to try one someday.  They wouldn't work where I live, too uneven and hilly.

Good Evening Taylor,

We are currently moving our office into a larger building and we're not quite set up and ready to go yet.  Although we do have phone service and the printer/copier/fax is set up, there are still some bugs in our wireless system.  Every bit of my office is still in boxes and will remain so for several more days, while I take care of more pressing matters.  Fortunately, I do most of my work from my home office.

Have you located a Segway tour in your area yet?
