Love Notes left behind

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX REAL ESTATE TODAY, Executive Broker 901-488-9590

I was reading an article about this little girl named Elena Desserich, she was diagnosed of brain cancer right before her 6th birthday.  She died 225 days after the diagnose.  After she passed away, her parents found lots of notes Elena wrote and hid them all around the house.  You can see the love notes Elena left to her parents on www.notesleftbehind.com  It just breaks my heart to know what her parents went through and lost their child at such a young age.  Yet, Elena was so compassionate, and loved her family so much and left behind some unforgettable memories for them to treasure, she was an amazing girl.

Her parents published these notes in a book called Notes Left Behind, and all the proceeds go to a non-profit organization called The Cure Starts Now to find a cure for pediatric brain cancer.

Children love is so unconditional, pure, and genuine.  Remember to hug your child and tell them you love them everyday.  Don't take anything for granted.  Be thankful what you have.

I saw this on television as well. It brought tears to my eyes. She must of been one amazing child. A friend of my daughter just had her toddler diagnosed with brain cancer. It is heart breaking. I pray for a cure.

Oh, Rita, now I'm going to have to go read them and start my day off crying.  I can't imagine what it must have been like for the parents to have to endure this.  I thank God every day for my son.

Charles, I know, that's what makes this story more compelling to me, I was picturing her wrote those love notes when she was very ill, her mind....she was an amazing little girl, we all need to learn from her.

Alexandria, it is a very touching story.  I checked my setting and my blogs are supposed to be able to re-blog, would you know why is not showing on my memebers only blog?  Thanks.

Pat, I just can't imagine how and what her parents were like when they found those notes all over the house.  They are very courages parents also.

Dick and Dixie, I was crying also as I read the article, how won't anybody?  When I saw those notes and the hearts she drew, I just can't help it.  I still have teary eyes as I am typing this comment.

Lina, I don't mean to mess up your morning, sorry.  Aren't we all very fortunate to have healthy children?  As a parent, there is nothing, nothing hurts more to see your own child suffers in front of your own eyes, and knowing they are going to leave us for good.  You have a great day!

Thank you for sharing this.  Losing a child must be the most unimaginable pain.  She must have been very special and wise beyond her years.

Hi, Susan, wasn't she?  I can't imagine a young child would know to do this to let her parents to hold the memories forever.  It is such a loving story.

Rita, this is a compelling story, thanks for sharing it.  My wife works at NIH (National Institute of Health) and not a day goes by without her treating sick young children with incurable diseases like this who are destined to leave this world at such a precious age.

The doctors and nurses who work together to find cures for these diseases are to be commended.  It is a very challenging job to take care of these children, to get to know them only to lose them while in the battle.  I pray they will find a cure and I will buy a copy of the book.  I am sure my wife will love this story.

Rita - thanks for sharing this, even though I am having a hard time seeing the screen and keyboard clearly. What a wonderful and wonderfully precocious and sensitive little girl. With your permission, I would like to reblog this on a couple of my non-AR blogs.

Hi, Dan, it is one of the most touching stories I have ever read.  I really just can't imagine.  It takes an angel to be a nurse for these terminal ill children.  God bless nurses like your wife who takes good care of these children day in and day out.  Thanks so much to share your story with us also, Dan.

Hi, Mike, she was a very loving girl, wasn't she?  It breaks my heart to imagine what Elena was going through, still took the strength to do what she did.  She is amazing.  Please, Mike, feel free to re-blog this post.  Hopefully one day we can find a cure for cancer.  God Bless.

Rite,

Ironically, just this morning the first thing my wife said to me after she got up was that one of her favorite patients died yesterday.  I have learned that life is truly frail and understand exactly what you mean when you encourage us to hug our children and never take anything for granted in life.

Thank you for this post.  It has helped me focus even more on what is truly important in life.

Dan, I know it has to be hard for your wife, I admire nurses who are so dedicated to their patients.  I spent 2 years on and off in the cancer unit with my mother-in-law when she was sick about 10 years ago, I know what a nurse has to go through everyday, especially dealing with terminal ill patients.  Other than taking care of the patient, they also need to cope with the family, they have a tough job.  I salute to your wife and other good nurses like her.

I thank God for giving me my 2 girls, they are healthy, never gave me trouble, do very well at school, I certainly can't ask for more.

I am glad to see you are back, Dan, thanks.

Rita - what a touching story, especially considering that the average 6 year old has just learned to read and write and what was uppermost in her mind was leaving something of herself behind to comfort her loved ones with. How amazing is that.

Rita, I saw something about that on TV. What a thoughtful little kid to leave these notes for her family to find. Thanks for sharing and reminding.

Hey, Silvia, as a grown up, we tend to think we are teaching the young ones how to and what to, many times we learn from them instead, they are the ones who always remind us how precious life is, and love unconditionally.
