San Jose, California based Cisco Systems Inc. announced earlier this June they will build a 140,000- to 160,000-square foot data center just north of Stacy Rd in Allen on the west side of Central Expressway (75013 Zip Code). The new facility, which is set to begin construction the first part of next year, will employ over 100 full-time and contract workers. This news boads well for Allen Real Estate. Cisco will spend $500 million on the new facility and will receive incentives such as tax abatements, assistance with construction of a new road adjacent to their site and a contribution to infrastructure costs related to the project, said Robert Winningham, economic director and CEO of the Allen Economic Development Corp. According to the City of Allen and as of Nov 2009, permits have already been issused for Foundation to be poured and construction to begin.
