"6 Tips to Better Real Estate Photos"

With a majority of home buyers perusing listings online, real estate professionals would be wise to use top-quality photos in their listings. However, experts say many make the mistake of taking pictures of rooms without enough light, failing to focus on the room itself, or snapping photos of rooms that have not been cleaned. Dennis Huckaby, an architectural photographer in Blaine, Wash., says, "Real estate agents can't sell something to (consumers) who (chose not to contact) him because they didn't like the pictures." To show homes in the best light, experts encourage agents to prepare them to be photographed by removing clutter and positioning some flowers or fruit bowls on bare countertops, for instance. They should avoid using cell-phone cameras, turn on the lights and opt against using the flash, and be careful when photographing bathrooms to avoid glare from the mirror. Other tips include skipping photos of children's bedrooms, given that multiple listing services limit the number of photos per home and these rooms are very similar and lack architectural features, and snapping photos of foreclosed properties even when they need a lot of work to present an honest view of the dwellings. "Even if it's got warts, there's a place to stand where you can make an interesting, attractive image," says Huckaby

Thanks for sharing. It's always nice when others share information they have found useful, especially when it comes to our line of business. I hope you enjoy your Friday.

I hope you'll remember me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC" and I will do the same!

I just opened an e-mail to kudos from a seller on my photography skills. Digitial cameras are so awesome, we can shoot and shoot and shoot from all angles and then only use the shots that look the best.

Good advice but it left me wanting more.  I tend to take a minimum of 20 photos per listing and I also prefer the higher resolution even though it eats up more memory.
