BATTLE OF TIPPECANOE MONUMENT: 101 YEARS OLD TODAY

Tippecanoe Battlefield Monument by Sharon Walter

THE BATTLE OF TIPPECANOE MONUMENT WAS DEDICATED 101 YEARS AGO TODAY, on November 7, 1908 in Battle Ground, Indiana.

The monument(pictured above) was a memorial to General William Henry Harrison and the men who fought and died in The Battle of Tippecanoe on November 7, 1811

The memorial is a 90 foot tall white granite obelisk that weighs just under 450 tons.

The Battle of Tippecanoe Monument is located seven miles north of Lafayette, Indiana in the historic town of Battle Ground.

That's a stunning monument Sharon! At Gettysburg, they also had some pretty amazing monuments! There is so much amazing history surrounding Civil War sites.

Thanks, Myrl. It was difficult to get a clean shot of the entire monument w/o encroachment from the trees. I am going to show a bunch of pictures tomorrow. I still don't have your slideshow knowhow yet, but I am working on how to apply your skills that you shared with us. Thanks.
