Is it me, or is Christmas starting already?

Is it me, or is Christmas starting early this year?  I know that Christmas commercials and tree trimming materials pop up in stores early anyway, but it seems to be hitting even earlier this year with gift commercials and such.

I just got the Halloween candy taken care of, and already my children are handing me Christmas wish lists, and talking of Santa and Rudolph.  One of my neighbors a few houses up already have their Christmas lights on.  What about Thanksgiving?

I love winter, Christmas, and all the ho-ho-ho that you can throw at me, but let us not forget to be thankful this month for making it through a year of many, many downs, a recession, small pockets, and even smaller wallets.  And, then in December we can turn our thoughts to joy, good will towards men, and all the hope of the season for a prosperous new year!!!

I always thought November should be a celebration of Thanksgiving and appreciating what we have! I agree!

Hi Audra~ It does seem like they start pushing Christmas earlier and earlier every year.  The commercialism is the part about Christmas that I do not like and do not buy into it anyway....

I love Christmas music, but two stores one yesterday and one today had Christmas music playing in the background.  I'm sure I'll be tired of Christmas music by Christmas Day.

Sad that Christmas has become commercialized. I thought it terrible it started the Friday after Thanksgiving with the big sale days. Yesterday another agent said a tree was decorated at McDonalds! It was said on the radio merchants are starting earlier than ever because of the recession. They are trying to squeeze every dime from unemployment checks they can. They are also hoping to get sales from those that have not lost their job yet but will before Christmas.

OMG.....it's WAY TO EARLY TO START THINKING ABOUT XMAS.....! It' starts all to soon and loses it's meaning . It's way too commercialized.

It is all over -- trees, carols, and such everyplace --- the Halloween costumes on one aisle and Christmas trees on the next.

I was in the drug store on Monday. They were pulling all of the Halloween stuff down and putting up Christmas do-dads.  It just seems like we were opening up presents just yesterday.

Maybe this explains why some people never take their Christmas lights down.

Years ago the push came after Thanksgiving.  The stores are all loaded with Christmas items now.

Retailers have to get started earlier just to reach last years sales so we can believe the economy is getting better.
