THe HVCC is alive and well and working for appraisers!

If you have read any of my posts, you will have already guessed that the title of this one is sarcastic. 

I had a good client (mortgage broker) who was pretty much forced to give up her business due to the HVCC, and ended up merging into another larger practice.  Once there, she recommended me as one of the 5 appraisers that their AMC uses on a rotation (and the AMC pays full fee, so I can't complain).  However, I found out last week after the orders dried up that I had killed three deals for another broker in that office, and he called the AMC and had me removed from the list.  They were all good, defensible appraisals, and no one questioned the overall report, or provided additional comps, or wanted to discuss my adjustments.  Just, "well, he isn't making the value, so cut him". 

So once again, I think we have proved that government intervention has failed to do anything except make life difficult (and expensive) for all of us.  Thanks again Mario!

How frustrating for you.  Were these all sales where you knew the purchase price or were they still sneaking in estimated values to coerce the appraisers?

No, no values given.  But I think the point was made that they were not going to work with someone who was killing their deals, despite the fact that there was nothing wrong with the report.

Mike, I hear your pain! I know this is getting off track, but a radio talk show host down here in West Palm Beach made a great point. Every elected, or appointed official ( city, county, state and fed) needs to be DRUG TESTED! They have the power to pass these stupid rules and laws ( I think half of them are STONED when they come up with these ideas), that effect us. If you or I go and apply for a job we need to pee in a cup!

Where's the IVPI since there is stated regulation in HVCC as to how, when and why an appraiser can be removed from a list. Oh yea, they haven't implemented it yet and most likely never will! If they do I still say it will be out-sourced to India or Uganda, can you imagine that conversation?

Please advise a lowly trainee here in North Carolina who has jumped all the hoops, paid the fees, taken the courses, but has yet to obtain 300 pts to become certified...How do I get more business?  The AMC's won't allow trainee participation.  Do I have a class action lawsuit here?  The only business I get is through a small local bank.  I'm new here so be gentle.
