| Brac Move to Huntsville Spurs Concerns About Roads Submitted by: Kimberly Grant, Huntsville Real Estate Agent Huntsville Real Estate Blog
A study was conducted by the University of Alabama's Center for Business and Economic Research and the findings have estimated that our areas needs approximately $2,000,000 dollars to make the changes needed to accomodate the increased traffic demands. It is uncertain where that money will come from but there are hopes that this study will show there is a valid need for concern and plans are needed to be implemented. Efforts have already started to begin a state transportation plan and that's where you come in... On July 10, 2007, there will be a meeting held at the Huntsville Madison County Public Library from 4pm to 6pm. The meeting is sponsored by the Alabama Department of Transportation and one of the main goals is to help update the Statewide Transportation Plan. Huntsville and other Madison County residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to voice their opinions and conerns regarding transportation in our area. Other state meetings will be held in Anniston, Semmes, and Montgomery. I encourage residents throughout the state to attend these meetings and get the opportunity to have your voice heard during the time of development of the statewide plan. The plan is only updated every five years and it seeks to forecast future transportation needs. What better source of valid information for the plan but from those that travel the roads everyday!! Again, I encourage you to get involved and attend one of the meetings in your area. Let's all do what we can to be more involved in what happens in our community and try to make a difference. More information about the study and future meetings can be found on the Department of Transportation's website as well as FAQs and information on how you can get involved. If you are unable to attend any of the meetings, they welcome your comments and feedback. Here is the information on how to get your voice heard: Email: altransplans@dot.state.al.us
