Longmont Colorado - A Wonderful place to live! This year, the Longmont Public Library is celebrating it's Centennial, yes 100 years of service to the community.
Every summer, the Longmont Public Library offers a summer reading program for area kids. It's a fun way to keep up with reading in the summer.
This summer, the theme is ALL ABOARD THE CENTURY EXPRESS! Children can register at the library and challenge themselves to some reading fun! Each child receives a booklet in which they can track their reading. For younger children, each book that is read aloud to them counts towards the total. Older children can either track their reading by counting each book or by counting the minutes read. For every 20 minutes read, it counts toward the total.
For each book read or time period met, children get to color-in a space on a train-track in their tracking guide. Once they've reached 15 books, they can return to the library to pick a treasure from the treasure box, win a ticket to Lakeside Amusement Park, a Country Buffet Meal coupon and an IHOP meal coupon!
Once they've reached 30 books, another treasure is awarded as well as a free paperback book, a Texas Roadhouse meal coupon, a Discovery Center coupon and a Summer Reader Certificate!
