Just a Little Staging and It's Sold!

JUST A LITTLE STAGING AND IT'S SOLD!

A little while back, a Realtor Friend asked, Can you do a little staging something for me?   Of course I could and  I took a package of  decor items out to the house to dress the fireplace, for some enhancement of the dining/kitchen area,  and some bath decor.  The fireplace is the main event in this modest 3 bedroom 2 bath.

The house closes next week, so from a staging point of view, it must have worked!

Fireplace,Before Staging

BEFORE STAGING - THE "PLAIN JANE"  FIREPLACE

Fireplace, After Staging

AFTER STAGING!  MUCH MORE APPEALING - EXACT SAME FIREPLACE!

Now that it is supposed to be cooler weather next week, I would take the green stuff off the hearth and put a container of logs perhaps to ground the hearth.  A staging tip is to place 3 logs on the grate inside the fireplace opening to be ready for the next fire.

I left Real Estate in 1995 and re-acquired my license in September... among other things, this "staging" concept is fairly new to me, but I am now a whole hearted convert.  When you see Builder's model homes, are they vacant or in a mess? enough said.

Beverly - You get my vote for staging. As a former home builder, I respond to sellers who say they can't afford to stage that they, "can't afford not to."

Chris, yes    staging seems new but it is just good marketing to showing space at its best.  Most builders do a good job with their model homes, sometimes they are a little over decorated, but  people like them!  Staging a model home can be less expensive, because it is about showcasing the house, not the furniture!

John, glad you vote for staging!  It just makes a huge difference  - keeps buyers spend longer looking at the house, because they want to look.

David, you're right, it doesn't take a lot to warm up a space.

Liz, hard to believe it is almost fireplace time again. When you have a fireplace, decor makes it focal point and the room stand out
