We can all hear you!!

By
Real Estate Agent with Lake Burton Club Realty-Clayton Ga

I  recently had taken sometime away from Active Rain because  it can be very monopolizing of my time and second because I have actually been busy with my business.  So I felt refreshed and ready to absorb more from this wonderful learning and connecting tool.   Then I came across some comments that had me very concerned.

Now, I do understand that we are only human and we all have or good and bad days.  But sometimes I felt the comments went over the line.  So I just thought we could all use a little reminder about our Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

Article 15: Duties To Realtors:

15-2    The obligation to refrain from making false or misleading statements about competitors' businesses and competitors' business practices includes the duty to not knowingly or recklessly repeat, retransmit, or republish false or misleading statements made by others.  This duty applies whether false or misleading statements are repeated in person, in writing, by technological means(e.g. ,the Internet,) or by any other means. (Adopted 1/07)

I am posting this because myself at times have to rethink  when out of passion or frustration I would start a post and then realize I need to keep my head and take the high road.

Because remember,,,,WE CAN ALL HEAR YOU!

I have only been on Active Rain about two months so I'm not sure what kind of comments you are referring to? Are they false information or just negative?

Taylor, I  just found that with changes in our market some(the few) Realtors talk with a negative opinion about other franchises.   It is my opinion when you talk negative about anyone or any other company it only reflects on you.

Yes, Sara I guess the code will be something talked about in the coming year.  And should be.  It will always help us keep a good reputation with the public.

I had someone here that actually attacked my character here on AR. I chose that high road because it's the safest place to be. I sleep better at night too.

Ouch.  Don't like to hear that either.  We need to think before we type sometimes.

I  like "We can all hear you"  and even if people are leaving out the name of the other agent or the brokerage's name  someone can tell who is being  talking about.  They'd certainly recognize themself.  Even if members  post it Members Only it violates the COE because it does not say in the COE that it is OK as long as you only tell 160,000, 170,000 people and all future members....

A couple of weeks ago there was a member who was using Twitter to find who was being talked about in another members post  (no name was mentioned)  to file a complaint.

It's not just here either.  It's on WordPress blogs, Blogger blogs, on Twitter.
