Extension of the Home Buyer Credit...

168 days remain!

As many of you have already heard, the Homebuyer Tax Credit has been extended!  You must be under contract on a property by April 30, 2010 and close before July 1, 2010.  Read over the other details of the credit:

  • First-time Homebuyers are those who have not owned a residence in the past 3 years.  The credit amount is 10% of the purchase price, with a maximum of $8,000.  So if you purchase a $70,000 condo, your credit would be $7,000.  If you purchase a $300,000 single family home, your credit would be $8,000.
  • Current Homeowners, who have lived in the home for 5 of 8 consecutive years and want to sell that home, are eligible for a $6500 tax credit.  If you have been thinking of moving, whether it is to move up, or down-size, this is a wonderful incentive.
  • Income limits have been raised to $125,000 for single filers, and $225,000 for join filers.
  • For those in the military who have served outside of the United States for at least 90 days, the credit is extended until June 30, 2011.

So here is your opportunity! Interest rates are still low, there are plenty of homes on the market to choose from, and you can benefit from the credit.
