Closing Gifts

By

One of my favorites "moves" to pull as a realtor is the old closing gifts at the closing table.  It makes you come across like santa claus and definitely leaves a positive impression.

The question is what gifts get the best reception.  Personally I've had a great response from Tiffanys gifts.  Our parent company, Real Living, has an affiliate program with them and we get a small discount when we buy our gifts throught them.  The great thing about Tiffany's is the bag.  Even if the gift is just a hundred dollar key chain, when you whip out that turquise bag and hang it over to them it's pretty impressive.

All in the presenation.

What luck have the rest of you had with different closing gifts?

Hi John,

Gifts!  I love giving them out and receiving them but since I work for the largest lender in the country, we have a billion different rules/regulations to go by so I have been told not to accept any.  I guess I shouldn't be really giving out any either but I sometimes do so anyways.  A good bottle of wine or champaigne is always a good treat.  Or maybe a picture of you and them in a nice frame so that they can save it for many years to come!  Just an idea that I actually learned about here on ActiveRain like maybe 2 months ago.

Personally, I think it depend on the type of client.

If it is a single mother or father, maybe a gift card to a discount store, grocery store, Spa would be best.

If the buyers/seller are sports fanatic, maybe a gift to one of the events would be best. Wish one of my clients would give me a ticket to a Carolina Panther's Game. Hint Hint

If it is a client with expensive taste, a Tiffany's gift would do. I would have any use for it and would probably loose it within a few day.

Wine and Champaigne require having buyers and seller that have a taste for the item. It would only site on my counter until one of the kids decide that it is too old and throw it away or friends come over and decide to pop the cork.  I'm not a wine drinker.

A gift card to Wally World would make me happier than a cat in a meat house.

The type of gift should be based on the client's personality, taste, needs and partly the price of the house!

I give a personalized tote bag filled with toilet paper/paper towels/bottles of water/WD40/Clorox wipes/etc.  SO they can go right over to the new house and clean away.  And those bags?  I've seen them all over town with my folks-free advertising!  Total expense is $23 per bag.
