We arrived at the beautiful beach in Port Aransas, Texas and are spending a night in a condo right on the water. From the deck in fromt of us I shot this picture. Like everything in life you have to watch where you step and be aware of your surroundings. I've never seen a rattlesnake and I don't care to see one now.
Carol, wear tall boots, aim quickly for the part that looks like a triangle, they are delicious....happy to help.
Wow, Carol! You are brave! I HATE (with all caps) snakes....They give me the creeps...and the fact that the rattlesnakes can be deadly...well...maybe that's why they run so fast in the opening scene of Chariots of Fire. ;)
Or Man-O-Wars in the waves! Having been stung by one, I wish to never repeat the experience. Bad critters everywhere.
I think you need to replace sand-dunes with Washington DC. Think anyone would pay attention?
It might help our economy and profession.
Hi Carol~ Good for you being right on the beach! I am with Sonja above I HATE rattlesnakes too!
I would not like that either. I thought the beaches were for seagulls and crabs and terns.
Glad your getting around again. I wouldn't want to be corner by any snake. Not sure I would want to walk on this beach.
Carol,
Guess it is good to be forewarned. Enjoy your trip with no rattlers.
We will be in San Diego tomorrow!! Hope to see some of you at the convention.
One summer about thirty years ago we were driving down Padre Island and ran over a huge rattlesnake right in the middle of the road. Yes, they do have rattlesnakes in the sand dunes. Always be cautious.
Carl & Ceil:
I haven't seen anything but a baby rattlesnake, and I hope I never see anything bigger!
I learned about the rattlers in the sand dunes many years ago, AFTER I spent the night camping out on the dunes.
