Are You One of The Fortunate Few Who Have Found Their Niche?

After reading a blog this morning written by Kate Wheeler titled "Do What You Love and The Money Will Follow," it made me think about what I actually love about the real estate business and how fortunate I've been for the past 31 years.  I thought about the past years and of the many different phases of the business to which I had been exposed before I realized what my passion really was.  Whatever the focal point of the market was in the past, that's where my energies were directed.  For instance, when income tax laws first allowed great right offs for investors, I convinced multitudes of them to purchase multifamily properties from me.  Millions of dollars of three and four family homes were closed, and I dreaded every showing.

It wasn't until I sold my first new home that the love affair began, and the past 21 years of my career have been an ongoing honeymoon with new construction.  I've been blessed in many ways.  My team members enable us to service multiple subdivisions at one time.  We presently have four subdivisions and our workload is evenly distributed among all of the team members.  I would not be able to handle four subdivisions alone.  My marketing has become easier since I joined Active Rain.  Internet exposure and prime placement on the Internet get an A+ because of Active Rain.  I've been blessed again!!

Good for you! My niche is commercial property in our small town. Having a niche really makes it easier to stand out, and to be good at what you do.

Vanessa.....you can always have more than one niche...

Jeanne......I wish I had access to more horse farms.....your purpose and mine are different, I believe.....I promote developing that tract into a subdivision of a zillion homes....our town has only a few horse farms remaining, and I think they will continue to be undeveloped.

Great post....I love buyers! It's definately my niche. This week, as I realize the extent to which we are in a seller's market....I've been thinking of a marketing campaign to attract sellers. Reading this post? I'm going to give it a bit more thought.

Hi Barbara,

We just posted our first blog - thanks to your gentle nudging and very helpful tutorial.  We used the following tag words:

upton, ma, 01568, residential, single family resale, antique colonial, first time home buyer property

Can you tell us why we can't find it anywhere on the internet?  Any suggestions as to which words we should use for better positioning?

Thanks for all your help this morning.

Be your niche.  The things in life you ponder about - that's your niche (if you haven't found one already).

Mine is Homes For Heroes.  My passion is serving those who serve me with their dedicated work in my community.  The Realtor and Lender Affiliates with the Homes For Heroes program across the country serve our community Heroes (Military, Police, FireFighters, Medical and Educators) by donating part of their earnings back to the community Heroes they work with.

It's a great national program for Real Estate Professionals that are looking for a niche.  It's a "pay it forward" concept that will build your business and your smile.

Brad....that's wonderful.....you're to be commended for that participation.....that beats any niche that anyone could describe....it's very generous and your business should be built by that.

For me it's geographical.  It amazes me how many agents are willing to do business all over the place. I'd rather know my areas well and service just those areas then be driving all over town and hoping to be useful to my clients. That's was referrals are about!

Oh this so struck a cord with me! I'm in the process of finding my own niche but I have to say that I totally related to yours. New home construction, model home showings, the whole thing just makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I love this industry even with the ups and downs and getting someone into a home they love and can afford is a true satisfaction.

Suhail....Become as educated as you can about new construction, reading plans, methods and materials used during construction....all of it is very important if you are going to show and close buyers on the product.
