According to the Pelican Bay Post:

  • Toys for Tots was founded in 1947 in California by Major Bil Hendricks, USMCR.
  • Naples joined the Toys for Tots programin the early 1980's.
  • Pelican Bay is the largest souce of toys and cash donations the Marines receive.

When I saw the giant Teddy Bear at the Pelican Bay Community Center, I just wanted to snuggle up to him.  I love this cause!

Although Toys for Tots is a year-round venture, it seems they only get publicity at Christmas Time. That's too bad.
