Marianne, How cute! When we lived in Kansas there was a mostly Swedish town. I can't remember the name but my parents had friends who were from there. I expect it is not as Swedish as it use to be. The area we live in was settled by Germans and the street names still survive; I have met a few descendants but it has become diversified.

That is a very festive looking animal they have out front, Marianne. Thanks for the picture-I have never seen anything like it. Reminds me of a pinata.

Hi Marchel: Thanks for checking in. This little town in NE holds a history for my husband's family. We found some great info about them at this Heritage Center. Yes, his family was from Sweden.
Hey Debi: No, it's in Oakland, Nebraska. We took this photo when we were there. We thought the red horse was unusual.
Hi Sharon: Yeah, it's as colorful as a pinata, but it was made of wood. We thought that it was so unusual that it deserved a quick photo.

How cute! Looks like a little Christmas tree ornament! Or should I say a HUGE Christmas tree ornament? =o) Its so much fun to see the cultural heritage of small towns being celebrated, though I also enjoy the "melting pot" experience of big cities, (minus the traffic, etc).

Hi Debra: I've only been to Saratoga Springs once...and I never noticed the statues. Next time, I'll take a closer looks.
Hi Cheryl: And this is one of the great small midwestern towns. I think they have one stop light. LOL
I know Karen, and don't you just hate it when you've brought the camera in to down load photos and forget to put the camera back into the car???

Hi Marianne! That cute little horse reminds me of a child's toy seen under the tree on Christmas Day! Good shot!
