The storm and other news

The storm that we had this past week and weekend was by far pretty bad.  There was much erosion at Rehoboth Beach and damage to the boardwalk.  My perspective is that the dunes that were created for potential storms did their job pretty good.  I must say that I was not a big advocate od the dunes that were built because they took away much of the view a visitor could have of the beach.  I am now a supporter of the dunes after seeing what damage they probably prevented.

On another note, from the stimulus money the Wilmington Housing Authority will be tearing down and rebuilding Lincoln Towers.  About $10,000,000 will be spent to tear down and rebuild with a fire station and a place for low income seniors.  Fire station 5 would be closed should this plan go through.

The possibility of Delmar getting a Casino got a boost when a survey taken showed 55% of Delmar residents favored the idea.  James Rostocki is the projects developer.  Now there potentially will be a casino in Delmar and Millsoboro.  The one in Millsboro is being proposed by Del Point of the Schell Brothers.

All new casinos are waiting on a study by Delaware to determine the impact of additional gaming in Delaware.

2nd Nor'Easter in the last month.  We're lucky it's not the winter or we'd be seeing a bunch of snow with these storms.  Might be one heck of a winter!
