Moose Monday - Imagine Seeing These Right Outside Your Window!

A couple of moose right outside the window - Red Lodge, Montana

The above photo was taken on February 13, 2009.  One of our tenants called the office and asked me to come see the view from his window.   Red Lodge is a beautiful town to visit and live in.   Even the moose think it is a very beautiful town to visit.  These moose decided to pay our tenants a visit and enjoy their backyard.  It was a first moose sightings for these tenants and they were very surprised and excited to see them right outside their window (you could not ask for a closer look!).   A couple of weeks later I called the tenants and gave them a couple of printed photos of the moose in their backyard (see following post for one of the two photos: Moose Monday - Moose in the Backyard in Red Lodge).  They were very pleased to have a memory of their moose-ly exciting day in Red Lodge!

Happy monday and have a great week!

More moose pictures....these just amaze me! A few years ago we took the family to Jackson Hole and we really wanted to see a moose....finally on the way out (last morning) we saw one....and only one!

Gerry - Wow, I'm not sure what I'd do if I saw this outside my window.

Gerry - I want to move!  I don't have neighbors that look or act like that at all:-)  It makes me very jealous!

Hi Gerry, looks like your tenants had a peeping moose, LOL! I see him trying to see what's for breakfast maybe? How nice of you to give a lasting memory by print off a photo for them to enjoy!

That is very cool...a little scary to step outside, but very cool! Once when I was staging a cabin, outside of town, I kept hearing a "ticking" noise, against the glass.  I don't often stage in a house by myself, but I was, and I was out of cell range...then I glanced out the window, and a large buck had bedded down, in the grass just outside. He was turning his head from side to side, clicking his antlers on the glass as he did...But a moose?...that's  a different story!

Hi Gerry - It's now Wordless Wednesday so I'm a bit late for Moose Monday.  The moose must prefer visiting Red Lodge.  The people are so nice, they don't call out the wildlife people, the zookeepers, the police, the animal shelter, the army, the media and their helicopters.  Red Lodge is very peaceful.

Compare what would happen if a live moose were seen in Toronto, Montreal, Atlanta, southern California or other populous areas.

Hi Gerry, It amazes me that they come so close to humans!  and very cool to see them.  I would not want them in between me and my car if I wanted to leave the house, though :-)

Liz,

Next time I see them, I will let them know that they are very welcome in Cambridge, in your backyard.  :)

Karen,

Usually when you expect to see them, you most often set yourself up for disappoitment.   I went to Yellowstone in September hoping to spot moose and get photos to post for Moose Monday and I did not see any during the whole two days I was there.   In early October, a moose surprised me by coming within 100 yards of my house.   Let's say I was not expecting the moose but I made the most of his presence to stock up on photos for Moose Moonday.  One moose spotting is still better than none.   Unlike deer, it takes a while between moose spotting.  That what's make it very special every time I see one.

Michelle,

You would probably be speechless and glad that there is a window (a barrier) between them and you.

Myrl,

You may need to consider a vacation home here in Red Lodge to get closer to these kind of neighbors.   Despite there big size, they are not too nosy.  :)

Debi,

The tenants talked about this unexpected sighting for months after it happened.   Of course, having a couple of photos of the event displayed in your home, can only spark the conversation every time you have guests that run across the photos for the first time.  A priceless memory! :)

Tony & Darcy,

Those are the neighbors car that can be seen in the photo.   The view is of the tenants' back yard.  But, yes, it would not be wise to get to the cars seen in the photo.

Cheryl,

I enjoyed reading your story.  I can imagine that it must have been a little uncomfortable when you were by yourself, outside the cell phone reception area, and was hearing that ticking noise outside the window.   These two moose were fairly quite and came with no antlers.  They were very peaceful. It was the tenants that were agitated and the ones causing noise with their non-stop talking (so much they were excited)!.   :)

Marc,

I can just imagine how much stir a real moose (not one of the Mel's moose) would cause in Toronto.  They may have to bring in a crew to tranquilize it in order to return it in the wild.  I do see the media trying to rush and capture it on video, a helicopter in the sky tracking him down, and lots of people scaring him from all the attention.   Thank you for the visual!  :)

Mary,

They are more interested to eat fruits off the trees than to hang around people.  If they do come between you and your car, you know for sure they are looky-loo's and that they are only interested in a vegetarian lunch.  Might as well forget about getting in the car while they are there and make better use of the time to touch back with past clients and prospects.  Going towards the car in their presence is a very risky Andre-taking and something to avoid at all cost as they are berry berry stubborn and dangerous if you cross their path.

So they just kind of make themselves at home? How neat.

Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
