Beautiful San Francisco and Golden Gate Bridge Pictures

By
Home Stager with Simply Staging

Recently I  visited San Francisco, my birth city, and for the first time in my life walked all the way across the Golden Gate bridge.  It was a beautiful day, which is rare for the city, normally it's foggy or cloudy and cold, but these pictures capture how gorgeous my city is on a beautiful day.  I love San Francisco and I wanted to share why I love it with all the rest of you here on AR.  There are so many things to do and see, it is so rich with culture and diversity.  Enjoy!

San Francisco Scenic View

We spotted a family of dolphins in the water, but were too fast and far to get any good pictures of them.  Here is a picture of the Golden Gate bridge from below.  The bridge was completed in 1937, it is the second longest suspension bridge main span in the United States, it ranks fifth as one of the most favorite architectural landmarks in America.  Surprisingly, only eleven men died during construction and it cost around $37million to build.  It really isn't "golden", the color is more of an orange-red and the maintenance crew climbs up on top of those suspension poles to get to the top of the towers, because of the weather and ocean salt, the bridge is always being painted.  What a job!

That pointy building is the Trans-American building.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoyed these pictures as much as I have.

Emma - Those are gorgeous pictures of one of my favorite cities!  I've lived in Sacramento all my life, and never knew until fairly recently, there is a fort at the base for the San Francisco end of the Golden Gate Bridge.  It was a huge surprise when I visited it the first time.

Emma, What a treat this is! I, too, love SF, and love photographing the bridge. These are terrific photos, and you shared information I did not know :) Thanks so much for your post!

I love the picture of the bridge, from the ground... and the info about the maintenance. So the bridge covers a salt water river? I didn't know that either. How close is it to the "inlet"? ... yeah, I should probably go look at a globe. Doh!  >.<   lol

Myrl- I didn't know about that fort either until that day I took these pictures, we visited it and that's where I learned all the neat facts about the bridge and how that fort was there to protect the city.  Very interesting stuff and I lived in San Francisco!

Debi- Thanks for the compliment on my pictures, it means a lot coming from a photographer.  Obviously I'm a novice, but that doesn't stop me from taking pictures anyways.  Glad you learned a few things.

Hi Lisa-  San Francisco is located on a bay and right across the ocean is Marin and Oakland and lots of other cities that are near enough to see.  If we didn't have our Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge, San Franciscan's would have to drive a few hours just to get to those cities on the other side or take a ferry.  With the two bridges people can get back and forth within minutes (if there's no traffic).  Oh yes, and right in the middle of the bay is the famous Alcatraz Island, where famous prisoners were kept for many years.  I hope someday you get to see San Francisco, I've heard from people all around the world say that it is the most beautiful city they've ever seen.

Emma, great photos!  I love photos of the Golden Gate Bridge!  I haven't been to San Francisco, I have been to Oakland, just not San Francisco, next time that we're up that way, I am going!

Hi Tony & Darcy-  If anyone from Oakland is reading this, I just want to say sorry, but San Francisco is so much more beautiful than Oakland.  You were so close, just a short drive across the Bay Bridge and you would've been there.  I hope next time you are in our neck of the woods that you do visit San Francisco and I promise you will love it.  In fact, give me a call and I'd be happy to share with you all the wonderful tourist spots and the hidden treasures too!  Take care.
