Hello Laurie, love the color of those berries. Kat and I saw them for the first time at a home last week that we previewed. She looked up the name but is not here right now to let me plug that in. Thanks! John
Debi - American Beauty Berries are a native plant down here in Florida. They are bushes, and can grow to well over my head in height. The berries don't taste good, but apparently, if you're in the woods and feeling thirsty, if you eat them it will get the saliva going and at least put moisture in your mouth. Here's a picture of a bush, FYI.
Bill - Thanks berry much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Elaine - I love the color, too, and I'm happy that I can wear it! I had heard of beauty berries before I ever actually saw any, and the first time I saw some, I knew immediately what they were, and why they got their name. They are one of my favorite plants. Thanks for stopping by - it's good to hear from you!
Brian - Thanks! I guess you don't have these up your way. I'm glad to be able to share a bit of Florida lore with my countrymen!
John - So you do have these up there in the Northwest! How lovely for you! In all the native plant books I've seen down here, they are called American Beauty Berries. Their color really lights up the forest, doesn't it? Thanks for visiting!
I just love the color of the leaves and berries, Laurie. Thanks for including a full picture of the bush and the information about them!
Sharon - You're welcome! It was fun to share the info -- must be a hangover from my homeschooling days! And I'm glad you liked the photo. Thanks for commenting1
