The River rises and she just sits and draws in Columbus Georgia

I made a trip to Columbus Georgia over the past few days and missed out on a lot of Activerain, I'm sure. Withdrawal pain was pretty severe but I made it.

Making a tour of the city which is alongside the Chattahoochee River, my daughter pointed out this sculpture as her favorite and is now my favorite also.

Sculpture in Columbus Ga

I love the sculpture because she's a young artist just sitting and drawing on her sketch pad.  Her purse has just been laid down beside her, her socks are wrinkled and her sweater is oversized.  She appears to be so natural.

Below her we saw this. Notice the water has risen above the walking and seating area.  It's raging while our artist keeps her cool.

She is probably waiting for some inspiration.  Perhaps the flood will provide it.

That's a great statue. I love the realistic details the artist put into it.

The flood on the other hand....not so good.

Love the pictures and story.  I hope the flooding waters don't over take her!

Are those "real" clothes?   I am so ignorant about things like that.  They LOOK real.

Oh, welcome back!

Welcome back Barbara. We missed you!

That statue reminds me of  a scene in the Palm Springs, CA Museum of Art. We were touring in 2007 and saw a couple sitting and staring at a piece of art. We walked around the area above them and every time we looked down, they were still staring at the art. I had to find out what was so compelling about that particular painting. I had the idea of walking between them and the art and waving my hand. Much to our surprise, they were art also. We went back the next year and they were gone but I had Paula sit in their place and stare at the same art.

Oh Godmother,

I believe that your daughter with that beautiful complexion might spend too much time in the sun.

That is a beautiful sculpture and so realistic. They must be getting a lot of rain in Georgia by the looks of that river.

I'm glad you are back! At first glance, I thought the sculpture was real. I think I'd like her in my front yard.

Theodoro, the inspiration was definitely there!

Craig, great observations!

Caron, thanks!

Nutsy, you're such a sweetie to worry about her!

James, it was clear while I was there but the water was coming from days back, I guess.

Carol, I need to get busy again on the rain.

Anita, I still wonder how they got the realistic texture.  You must be able to take real clothes and petrify, like stone.

Kate, glad to be back.  I could admire her all the time in my yard too.

Don, I love those pictures.  That same artist may have made this one that we saw in the Ripley's Believe it or nor museum.  That museum was so much fun and we were the same way, thinking there were other people in the museum.  When you walked past this man's camera it snapped.  That's my daughter in the middle but the man and woman were fakes....or art....
