what is legal - how much can we do with photos and stats to sell our work ?

Home Stager with Martin Designs

Question for agents, - is it legal for stagers to promote a client's property, outside photos, listing prices, sold price etc.

I have a waiver for clients to sign to use my before and after photos to promote my work and only the area that the house is located in.  However, is it a privacy issue to promote their address, outside photo s, listing and selling prices etc. of the property.

You need a lawyer to look over that release..the scope of it and the liability.

Hi Susan. In Tampa Bay agents using the name, likeness, image, etc must get written consent to do so. For example in order to enter pictures and data into the MLS we must get their written consent for certain things. For stagers I am not sure but liability may be a serious concern. ~ Lana

I have it written in my staging agreement that I have to right to show photos of the staged home in my ads.  In Virginia selling prices are a matter of public record.  After the home sells, I use the stats in my statistics.  I always link the the agent's virtual tour when I show the staged home on my web site. (We provide free virtual tours to to the realtors when we stage a home).

Wanda, I have the same in my staging agreement to use the photos and the selling price, the issue with the CSP's here in Canada is the question to also include the properties address and exterior photo.  Most of my clients don't mind the before and afters and stats, but don't want a trail back to them with their address and exterior photos so they know exactly which house is theirs.  In smaller communities it gets personal!

I don't include the address of the listing in my posts, but whenever possible I include a link to the virutal tour or the listing agent's web site. Not sure what is legal or not. I just don't want to appear to be advertsing a listing when I am not a licensed real estate agent.

We advertise our "staged" vacant listings with links to the REA on our sites and through localism. We don't put the address on occupieds for the same concerns as stated above.
