Real Estate Agent with Re/Max Northstar Realty
Due to the ever rising crime rate and Real Estate Agents are being targeted , I make it a rule to let the receptionist know where I am going and please call me if they have not heard from me in an hour. We have a password for being okay or to call police. Our office knows what kind of cars we are driving.

I like to carry a .45 with me...can you do that in Tenn? And a good idea to tell the office also.

Smart - I'd expect that this would be common practice but you know what they say about common sense!

Renate. Here's a thought. Make it a positive option. If all is well, then you say the phrase. If you're threatened in some way you don't. Sounds simple but if you are under duress you may well forget the phrase, fluff it or give the game away. If you are calm, you won't want The Law chasing you down - how embarrassing would that be!

I always make it a habit of telling my wife what house I am showing, what time and who I am showing the house too.

I had a deal with one of the agents from my previous office. She would make sure we saw the person she was taking out to see homes first. Then we had the phone call follow up. The problem we ran into was cell phone coverage. Sometimes you are out of range. What I have heard of, that I think makes a difference is a copy of the drivers license. You request to make a copy for security reasons. If someone refuses then something must be wrong.
