Taking a master bedroom from safari to inviting retreat in one day.

Travelling is a wonderful thing. It allows you see other ways of living and inspires you to want to bring home some memories. It can have such an impact on you that you just have to bring back some of that happy feeling by decorating your home with items that make that happen for you. Only thing is, buyers don't have those fond memories of the place you travelled to.

When you list your house for sale, it is now a product for sale. That means all the personal themed items are stored away and the house is marketed for sale to appeal to the widest range of buyers.

65% of people will pay more for a house that looks "move in ready". And that means neutral decor and colours that allow them to see their belongings in your home. So long safari and hello beautiful bedroom retreat.

This home staging at Norstar Harmony Village in North York now has buyers saying "absolutely beautiful, I want to move right in".

THe change definitely makes the room more appealing.  Hope the redo was not too costly.

Michelle,

Removing the dark panel drapes has really brightened up the room! Another great transformation!

Hi Sandra, the room really takes advantage of the cozy feel now. Before it just didn't have that relaxing feeling about it.

Hi Cathy , now that is a coincidence. I love this bedroom set too!

Hi Lora, The rental of the furniture, lamps, bedding and artwork would only be $325. Well worth the investment to showcase the home to buyers.  This client chose to buy the furniture.

Hi Michelle, you are so right. The room had such a lovely sunny exposure and it was being shown is such a dark way. As Barbara Barry said "space and light are the two luxuries in any home".

The themed bedroom was too taste specific. Your changes broadened the appeal and opened up the room for a more spacious and light look.

Good staging - could be seen a little better with a pulled back photo that shows the entire room instead of just the bed.

Hi Mel, thank you for stopping in to see this safari transformation. It definitely has more appeal now. I was at the open house this weekend. The buyers were stopping to say how beautiful the home was. Quite a change from previous open houses.

Taking photos from exactly the spot in a room is always something I strive to do and manage 50% of the time! I always print out the before shots to pick the inventory and plan to take them with me to the staging. Now I  need to get in the habit of taking them with me to the staging so that I can take the same angle shots of the rooms.

When I was house hunting, we looked at a home that had two african masks just inside the front door. They made such a strong statement that I spent much of my time in that home on the lookout for other african souvenirs (among others, there were two wooden statues of naked women hidden unsuccessfully in the master closet), as well as looking at the home itself. I never refer to it as "the home with the beautiful lanai." It's always "the house with the african masks." It was a valuable lesson for my present career as a stager!

Hi Suaznne, thank you very much!

Hi Laurie, I couldn't have said it better myself! That is how I explain staging to my clients. We want buyers leaving your home talking about the features not the design specific decor.

Michelle - that totally transformed the room - it is amazing what a little work can do to sell a home!
