Share your Thanksgiving with the military!

Thanksgiving

I've said it before - Thanksging is two words! There is still time to share your Thanksgiving with members of our military who are far from home.

You see at this time of year there are thousands of men and women who serve in our armed services who are hundreds of miles from home and only have what the military are able to dish up.

I did think about this last year too and I called a Vet I know and asked how I could help. And the answer is really simple.

So if you are interested, call the First Sergeant of your nearest military base and let them know that you have two spare seats at your Thanksgiving table available for any serving military. Really that's it. The First Sergeant will find the right two and set the whole thing up.

This is truly a great way to remember that Thanksgiving is indeed two words. This will certainly help you fulfill the giving part and you will find it extremely rewarding. Oh and it works at Christmas too!!

Certainly you might find it a little awkward for a couple of minutes, but once the ice is broken it is indeed extremely rewarding. There is still time to set this up and so I urge you to contact the First Sergeant of your nearest base today.

Great idea!  Hopefully, many will accept your suggestion and open their homes to members of our armed services. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Simon we've been doing this for a few years now and let me tell you, it's not only a very rewarding experience, it's not awkward at all. It always starts out with a handshake at the door and ends with a hug on the way out.

When I was in, my wife and I always had 5 or 6 of the single soldiers (even the single mothers and their children) at our home for Thanksgiving.

This is an excellent idea. My wife, who always invites every stray that we can find anyways is going to go crazy with this. I am on the phone right now. Thanks Simon!
