Speechless Sunday - Don't Worry Be Happy

Prozac - Milan NY

At the intersection of Route 199 and Route 308 in Milan, NY when you are stopped at the light you can't help staring at this Prozac capsule.

I can't tell you how many times I have gone by this and it always get a chuckle out of me.  I am still not sure what is really the message that the creator of this piece is trying to convey.  Should I simply not worry and be happy on my own or just take that 1,000,000 MG of Prozac and stop worrying altogether and be so happy. I never really had the urge to find out.

So after staring at this over the years, while on my way to preview a house in Standfordville last Friday I decided to get a shot.

What message do you think is being conveyed?

Joan I think it is funny.  This has been around for a while, I wonder if there is plans to replace this with a newer drug.

George - Where you would be going you wouldn't have any worries...lol

Eric you are right, it makes you think.

C- I though you would find this funny.  Thanks for the feature.

I agree with some of the other commenters that it is perhaps saying we are an overmedicated society, or the individual owns lots of Eli Lilly stock.

That's quite a different spin on Bobby McFerrin. And how big of a glass of water would you need to take that?

One thing for sure... the advertisers did their job... placing Prozac BIG on the minds of folks... whether they use it or not!  Good shot Jennifer!

Wow that is pretty funny although my immediate thought was that it is kind of over the top promoting drugs.

Richard Funny it is.

Bruce I think this was just someone having fun, it is not related to the drug company.

Michael sound like a 1,000,000 mg will do the trick....lol

John probably the size of the propane tank the Prozac is painted on.  Lol

Jennifer, It is funny and very scary at the same time.  I think both doctors and pharmaceutical companies just LOVE putting people on medication--it's such an easy way out.

Can you imagine the size of the glass of water that you need to take a pill that size? Or the throat that you need to swallow it. This would make a horse pill look small! At least you have something funny to look at while stopped at a stop light! We just have traffic here.

Hi Jenn!  Well, you got a chuckle out of me too on this one!  I love it!  I'm LMAO at Lise's comment about the size of the glass of water!

Have a great Thanksgiving...

Jennifer, you would need a balling gun to shove that down someones throat, LOL. (A balling gun is a tool that you place a pill in and it shoots the pill down the throat of an animal like a cow, etc.)

I think someone has a wicked sense of humor, and perhaps a bit to say about drugs.

Jennifer - This might be more appropriate if it were placed at an intersection in a city where traffic jams are the nor,. But, in Milan, Ny of all places?  People can't be all taht stressed out in this beutiful but quiet bedroom community.

Hi Jennifer... I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!  With a pill that big you could just dissolve it in the town's water supply and everyone could enjoy... literally!

Creative character somewhere in NY! The sign really makes the case for the giant capsule.  I wonder if it takes a little Prozac to come up with that....
