New York Feng Shui Blessings and a Blog---That's all it Took!

I don't believe anyone starts Blogging with the realization of all the incredible things it can bring you.   I certainly didn't.

I certainly didn't expect a BLOG here on Activerain to help my mom get a new dog.....

My BEST ActiveRain SUCCESS Story: He Had me at Hello : )

I was thrilled that my brother's friend had called and that we'll be visiting shortly.   But I was not at ALL prepared for what followed that phone call the following evening-now TWO days after the Feng Shui Blessing on our lovely Long Island home.

Some of my blogs have been personal.  One was a father's day tribute to my terrific dad Lt. Colonel Peter F. Provenzale, The "Perfect" Dad....by Feng Shui Long Island and another was about when I was informed by my cousin that my father was NOT listed as a member of the 8th Air Force Museum in Georgia.  I couldn't believe it---he was a Lt. Colonel in the 8th Air Force in WW11 in the 351st division and a Navigator for the B-17 Airplanes.

He's in the movie "Combat America", a documentary that Clark Gable filmed while he was in the war.  And he says my father's name several times during the movie:. Peter Provenzale...one of the clips of the movie is in this link:  8th Air Force 351st Fighter Group Historical Society--by Carole Provenzale
I got every piece of paper my mother had and made copies....there was nothing I left out of the information including his dates of service, the medals he won, copies of original clippings and everything they would need to have him listed.

I sent all the copies to the Museum with the request that he be added and received a rather curt reply that they were "too busy."  I couldn't believe it.  I called, wrote and emailed and got nothing back.  Time passed and they did nothing. Eventually I gave up....because I had to turn my attention to other things.

The phone call I received just two days after the Blessings was from the son of a man who flew with my father---the last remaining crew member still alive!  I was then able to speak to the man who actually flew with my dad.  My father didn't speak much about the war....it seems no one that returned did; it was too difficult.

Peter F. Provenzale by Carole Provenzale

I didn't know my father was hurt so badly they thought he was dead.  I didn't know on another mission that they ran out of gas and had to get out of the plane before it crashed into the English ChannelI didn't know my father could have gone home after his injury but stayed to complete all his missionsI didn't know so many things......

His son told me he was the "Keeper of his father's memories" and he also, it seemed, was the keeper of MY father's memories.  His son also told me he was going to try to reach one more person...the son of the Pilot who flew all the missions.

He did find him and told him of OUR conversation.  We are all hoping to Meet in St. Louis with ALL our memorabilia and our stories.  I will be able to speak to my father's "brother."  I also hear that it may well be possible that these people can finally get my father listed as having proudly served our Country.   They found me from a blog right here on Activerain.

I wondered "WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?"

And I thought about the Feng Shui Blessings....Of Course.  How could I not have thought of it?

Carole,

The universe works in mysterious ways, so they say....then again, we only have to believe, and miracles do occur all around us.

I love this story about your Dad so much....things like this seem to always be happening in your life.

Wow Carole, What an incredible story of your father!  He sounded like a phenomenal man!  You, my dear, have to know that you have also reached out to so many people's hearts in what you do.  You are amazing and your personality shines through your blog.  It's no wonder people find you here on Active Rain!  I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hi Carole, thanks for sharing this very personal story.  I can't tell you how much I admire and respect the men"of the Mighty 8th" who had to fly those missions over Occupied Europe.  It was simply the worst duty to pull and arguably the most hazardous of all the combat roles in WWII on the Allied side in Europe.  That is simply amazing that he was on the same film with Clark Gable and his name being mentioned on the film.  You are so right to be proud of your dad and his service to our nation.  I hope that you will be able to carry out your reunion in St. Louis and if you drive-remember that Indiana is the Crossroads of America!

You have been so good to Active Rain and it has returned many times what you have given to others!

Carole, it is truly wonderful!  I am happy for you, and I know it has to be meant a lot to you.  And you know it is you who make this happen.  If you didn't write the blog about it.............

Enjoy your trip to St. Louis and look forward to sharing more of your dad's stories after that.

Hello Carole.  I'm so glad you decided to share this story with us, allowing us into your life a bit more.  It was quickly absorbed and nothing but best wishes for a victorious outcome is what my prayer is for you.  Your father left an amazing daughter to follow in his footsteps of service... his to his country and yours in service in your profession and to us here on Active Rain.  May you receive the closure you seek in this as more truth is uncovered.

Carole, that's some amazing history you have . . . and an amazing legacy in your Father. It's always fascinating to learn new things about people we thought we knew so well.

And you are so right - we never know what blessings are just around the corner. We just need to be and do things from the heart. I believe it always pays off in the end.

Sending blessings your way for the Thanksgiving weekend!

Pat, Every time we cleanse something happens.  This had to have been the most profound.  Get to it and see what magic awaits you :)

Sara, Thank you for your comment.  My father was stationed in San Antonio and my brother was born there...my mother has many fond memories of living there.

Jo, I have to say it's been quite a year....quite an amazing year at that!

Tom, I'm beginning to think you're right.  And those Six Degrees of Separation....

Sandy, Thank you so much for your kind words.  I wish you and your family a Wonderful Thanksgiving as well!

Bruce, I am excited about the prospect of going and meeting this wonderful man...and learning and sharing.  I don't be driving, it's quite a distance from New York but I can tell it will certainly be an adventure.

Paula, You absolutely never know where or when your next blessing will come from.  But I continue to believe they are all around us.  I wish you a wonderful Holiday.

Rita, It's amazing, isn't it?  We think about what writing can do for our careers but never about how they can affect us so personally....

Hannah, You're welcome...I can't wait to come back and share updates but have a while yet before I go (and much to do!).

Steve, Thank you, it's almost too much to absorb.  I am beyond belief with this series of events and wish all my AR friends some wonderful happenings as well!

Diane, These are wonderful times for sure.  And I wish them for everyone...amazing things that come to us that seem to fall from the sky would be a great gift to all the wonderful people on Activerain.

Carole, when you go to St. Louis make sure you go to the Arch and visit Ted Drews for some incredible ice cream.  I can also recommend a couple of  great books about the airwar over Europe that your dad fought in WWII(I taught a WWII course for many years in high school).

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.  Blessings upon you all !!!!!!!

Carole, I have been making only turkey legs lately and one turkey breast.  Everyone always wants the legs ... and a turkey only has two.  I fixed that problem, with 8 people at the table, and 8 turkey legs (a couple of thighs and a breast).  This way, there is no waste, and the leftovers are nil.  Just the way I like it.

I hope you had a good one, and I did think of you ... one of the great friends I gave thanks for. :)
