Wordless (nature) Wednesday: My your nails are lovely!

By
Real Estate Agent with HomeSmart Realty West CalBRE #01458572

My owner is a Realtor with Century 21 Award in San Diego. The San Diego Zoo is always open on Thanksgiving Day, so I guess everyone knows where we're going first thing in the morning.

This will be my third annual Thanksgiving Day pilgrimage.

If you go first thing in the morning, it's not crowded and you get to watch much of the wildlife eating and stretching.

Around noon, it gets pretty crowded since all the kids are out of school and the Zoo makes a nice outing for the family.

I want to wish everyone a

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

and leave you with a picture from a recent trip to the Zoo.

Anyone have any idea what kind of critter this is?

My you've got lovely nails!

Mmmm, one half of us thinks some kind of reptile and the other half thinks it may be the foot of a turkey seeing that you are celebrating Thanksgiving while we are pulling on Santa suits!  Have a great time at the zoo and don't forget to feed the little sargents for us!

It looks like a member of the crocodile/alligator family - since I was just reading about them in National Geographic.

I thought as Ann did - need to get in for a little self care - although that blue color reminds me of that shade that was so popular a few seasons ago. :)

Thanks, Jim! I did need that quilt today. It turned chilly, so I turned on the heater as my family and I watched the Cowboys play--and win--again!

The photo looks like it might be of a tortoise?

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Russel, and Zoey the Cool Cat!

Cheers,

Robin

Hey, Everyone - Sorry I'm late getting back to you.

That's the claw of a Nile Crocodile at the San Diego Zoo. The crocodiles aren't normally very active, but this one was swimming in the water right next to the glass window, making for a great picture.

I have another picture indicating that she might have been in a little tussle with someone, or something:

Missing claw on a crocodile at the San Diego Zoo

I don't remember ever having seen the crocodile exhibit until I started going to the Zoo monthly this year. There are a couple of dwarf crocodiles that I've seen before but they always look like logs in the water.

It's obvious the exhibit is not new, but it is stuck away from the crowds, forcing one to either want to go there specifically or to accidentally find it like we did.

Jim,

I would have guessed reptile but would not have imagined to be those of a crocodile.  I hope you had a good Thanksgiving and the annual pilgrimage to the zoo seems like a good pilgrimage to me.
